Bye, January!

Jack is sad for two reasons. Number One: this will be the last blog update for a few days until we get our new laptops. Number Two: he has noticed a lack of comments on his remarkably adorable photos. Help cheer him up & post a comment!

Little Baby, Big Chair

I picked this outfit for Jack the day we had the gender ultrasound. On that day, it seemed so far away until he would be able wear it. He is growing so quickly - he is already in size 2 diapers!

A Swingin' Good Time

Jack has recently devleoped an affinity for his swing. He prefers the highest setting -the one we dubbed "baby launcher speed". He also likes the nature sounds - basically white noise with a hint of chirping birds. Once strapped in, he falls asleep within minutes.

New Pajamas

Jack is breaking in his new pajamas. It would appear that he likes them. Not even this impromptu photo session could rouse him from his nap.

Happy Jack

We ran lots of errands today. Jack sleeps through most of his outings. I know this will not always be the case - so I am enjoying it while I can! Once we got home, he woke up very hungry. Here he is, being exceptionally cute right after eating a snack.

Stand Up!

Jack has only rolled over once and still does not sit up on his own, but his favorite position is standing. With a little assistance, he can balance fairly well on his feet. It won't be long before he is running all over the place!

Wide Awake!

All the recent pictures have been of naps. While sleeping IS how he spends the majority of his day, he does wake up from time to time. Here he is, fresh from his bath.

Swaddled

While I was pregnant, Bill worked on knitting a blanket for Jack. He finished it about a week before Jack was born. Jack seems to enjoy being swaddled in it because he goes right to sleep!

Dos Abuelas

Jack went visiting today - we saw Great Grandma Thompson and Grandma Colette. We also went to the mall,(Jack's first trip!) but he slept through it. Smart baby!

Big Boy!!

Jack is 6 weeks old today. We went to the doctor and found out that he weighs 13 lbs 7 oz!! He is getting so big - he has little leg rolls now. So cute!

Rock Around the Clock

Jack loves the rocking chair. It seems to have the magical ability to puit him right to sleep - but only if Daddy is holding him. However, if Bill rocks Jack, they both go to sleep! (Bill must be worn out from getting a new job this week!)

It Works!!

We visited the library today, Jack's first literary venture. I found this book on baby sleep tips - looks like it's working already!

Mommy and Me

We like to snuggle and smell the baby as much as possible. His little cheeks are filling out and they are so kissable!

Worn Out

Jack rolled over today! Sadly, the event was not captured on film. After his performance, Jack became extremely fussy (unusual for him) and the only thing that would console him was a nap with Daddy in the rocking chair.

Note: Barney blanket (made by Grammie) was Cassady's when she was a baby.

Sleepy

We spent today digging Cassady's room out from under at least 58 layers of toys. Clearly this was exhausting for Jack.

Baby Blues

Jack's eye color has started changing. They started out dark, now they are lightening to a softer blue. We are still waiting to see if he grows eyebrows, however.

Trouble

Does this mean that he prefers Walmart to Target??

Steppin' Out

So this could be an issue. Jack doesn't seem to like shopping. And not just any shopping - but shopping at Target. We will have to work on this...

Those Cheeks!!

Jack is beginning to enjoy bath time. No, really! Tonight there was no crying - not even a whimper. He did add his own little sprinkle to the bath, though!

The Half Smile

Jack enjoys a good swaddle. He basically refuses to nap unless all mummied up in a cozy blanket or two. Sometimes when he is really happy (or gassy), he will even grace us with a smile. Sadly, he prefers to do his smiling off camera...but I was lucky enough to catch a tiny one today.

Oh look! He's napping again!!

Sometimes we change it up a little (and not just his diapers). Jack not only naps in his Boppy and while being held, but also in his bouncy seat!! After being up all night, he needed a little extra shut eye today.

(Not So) Happy Trails

We visited Great Grandma Thompson tonight - the first time we have gotten out of the house since New Year's Day. Jack donned his cowboy attire, complete with hat and boots. Yee-haw!!

Moody

We have been stuck in the house due to ridiculously cold temperatures for about a week. Even Jack seems to be suffering from cabin fever. Or maybe he just needs another nap.

He is Awake!!

We call this "exploring his world" time. Partly because it's an accurate description of the activity, and partly because that sounds so over-the-top and cheesy. At any rate, when actually awake, Jack seems to really like his play mat.

Burrito Baby

He really does wake up sometimes. For example, last night he was up from 11pm until 6am. Wide awake. Thankfully, the swaddle and boppy combo make it possible to put him down for at least 10 minutes during a nap - otherwise he prefers being held. Smart little guy!!

Like Father, Like Son

When Jack was just a few days old, I missed a "Kodak moment" when he & Daddy were sleeping. They were both laying with their arms in the exact same position. Bill is attempting to recreate that here, with less than realistic results.

Tummy Time!

As part of his daily routine, Jack enjoys tummy time on his play mat. His head/neck muscles are very strong & he can usually hold his head up for several seconds before mashing his face into the mat again.

Sleepy Snuggles

Today, we have a special guest appearance by Cassady. Jack found the time to sneak in a quick nap while watching a movie with his big sister.

Bath time is a scream!

Another event that Jack detests: bath time. He & I read the part in the baby manual where it says that a bath can be soothing & that babies love it - he's not buying it.

Nocturnal Jack

Jack really likes napping and sleeping. In 3 and 4 hour stretches even. Just not at night. Or anytime I have anything to get done. This photo captures the rare occasion that Jack is snoozing without being held...it lasted a good 5 minutes!

Happy New Year!!

Jack's first photo of 2010...he is also exactly 3 weeks old today. Sadly, I did not have a top hat, but I feel that Jack pulled off the festive toilet paper sash quite well.
