Cry It Out
Can I just say that I detest the cry it out method? I hate putting my little guy in his crib and leaving him to cry. I hate that even after he falls asleep, his little body is still wracked with his sobs. I hate that this is the only way that we can get him to go to sleep anymore. We have been doing this for 3 days now, for night time as well as naps, and his crying time has decreased to under 2 minutes. It's still awful. I am hoping that within the next few days the crying stops and he falls asleep without all the heartrending tears. Until then, I will be hiding in the other room, trying not to cry. Being a Mommy is just no fun sometimes!

Oh girl, I feel your pain. We've been doing it for the past 2 weeks and it still sucks. Some nights there's no crying but sometimes there still up to 10 minutes of crying! Be strong!! This is such an important skill he is learning.
ReplyDeleteCIO doesn't work for our nap times thought so as bad as it is, your lucky it works for night and nap times!!
Thank you SO much for the encouragement! It's so tough to just leave him in there while he's crying. I know he has to learn to self soothe sometime..but it's just so hard!!!
ReplyDeleteAw. It is definitely the hardest thing to do! I will give you encouragement and tell you that it works. We did it about a month ago, and now I can lay him in bed awake and he just rolls over and goes to sleep! He might let out a fuss right as I'm lowering him into his crib, but still nowhere near the 2 hours we went the first night! Actually we did Ferber, so I went in in intervals. But if he's already down to 2 minutes you are well on your way!!! I sat outside his door the first night and cried and tried to read a book and use my phone as a timer for the next time I could go in. It was awful! But the reward of sleep is AWESOME! Lol. I hope it gets better for Jack quick! Be strong Momma!
ReplyDeleteAwww, I'm sorry you are going through this, I absolutely hate the cry it out method too, but I'm thinking I'll have to do it eventually. Most nights, Jack falls asleep nursing and I put him in his crib. He sleeps great all night and even if he wakes up in the middle of the night, he doesn't cry and falls back asleep on his own. But on the nights he doesn't fall asleep nursing, it's torture trying to put him down. And naps have always been a little rough. I think we'll probably do something once I've weaned him, but I don't want to wait too long! Good job for sticking with it and congrats on getting down to 2 minutes. That's awesome! It makes me feel better to hear it working for others. Keep us updated!
